Ben's Barnyard Bash

Well this definitely isn't the kind of thing you usually see on my blog.. there's no lace, no blushing bride, no champagne toasts - and to be honest, I didn't even take these photos! My sweet, sweet friend, Mieke Snepvangers, came and photographed my little baby's first birthday party. Benjamin recently turned one and, of course, we had to throw him a crazy party that he wouldn't remember and go insanely overboard. Isn't that what everyone does? Thank goodness I have some amazingly talented friends that blessed me with their wonderful talents and didn't bat an eye when I told them I wanted to do! They actually threw crazy parties for their babies, too - so at least I'm good company. Back when I was pregnant, super pregnant in fact.. I got bored. So bored that I planned a first birthday party for a kid I hadn't met yet. He had a name and I needed a distraction - so Ben's Barnyard Bash was created. Thank you Pinterest! My friends, Eric & Shauna, own a super cool, red barn just down the street from me so it seemed like the perfect place to host a party. And what barnyard party would be complete without farm animals?? Yeah, that's right. Farm animals. (Like I said earlier, I went insanely overboard) Just scroll through the photos and see for yourself!

Camarillo Ranch House Wedding | Josh & Lauren

Josh & Lauren's love story is extra special to me because I got to capture it from the very beginning. Okay, well maybe not the very beginning.. but I got to be there when Josh popped the question! How fun is that?? I put the word out that I needed a couple for my promo video and when Josh mentioned that he wanted to propose on camera - I was all in! Josh and I, as well as his sister Amanda, met up the day before to work out our plan. We found a place where the light was perfect and decided on our key words and so while Lauren looked off towards the mountains for a photo, Josh was getting on his knee. When she turned around to face him, she found him holding her ring and telling her how much he loved her. I'll include a few photos from their proposal at the bottom of their wedding photos! They're just too cute. So all that to say, I'm thrilled that they asked me to continue to document their love story with an engagement session and then their beautiful wedding at the historic Camarillo Ranch House!

What can I say about Emily & JD? I seriously love this couple! I met Emily yeeeeeaaarrss ago when I was working at Woodranch BBQ & Grill and we completely hit it off. She is smart, funny, outgoing, beautiful, and the kindest person on the planet. I'm not joking. I feel like that trait is often overlooked when you think of attractive qualities you might like in a partner.  I know I always said I wanted someone with a sense of humor - but honestly, now being married and being a mom - I can tell you that it doesn't matter if your partner is funny, or great at their job, or really popular.. You want to marry someone kind. That is Emily. JD, you lucky son-of-a-gun, you hang on to this girl and cherish the heck out of her. Their wedding truly embodied their relationship on so many levels. There was no shortage of personal touches and sweet details throughout the venue, and everything was simply beautiful! Emily & JD, thank you SO much for allowing me to be there for you on the most magical day of your lives. It was truly an honor and I love you both!

I don't think I've ever photographed a wedding this full of blooms and I literally gasped when I walked into the reception! Aixsa & Ramon celebrated with their closest family and friends at the beautiful Langham in Pasadena. This year is all about barn weddings for me, and I am loving it! Kelly & Kevin chose Taft Ranch as their fabulous wedding venue and it was stunning. The sun was warm, the wind danced through the fields that surrounded the ranch, and we saw deer! Actual wildlife! That made me so happy. If you follow my blog on a regular basis, you know that I work with Tricia Dahlgren Events quite a bit and this wedding was one of hers! Except this time, her brother was the one standing at the altar which made this wedding extra special. For once, the lovely Tricia got to be a guest at a wedding.. although we all saw her grasping for her nonexistent radio multiple times throughout the day hahaha it's easier said than done to be a guest a wedding.

Robinson Ranch Wedding | Jeff & Kristina

April showers are definitely in full effect this weekend and Jeff & Kristina's wedding looked like it was going to be a wet one! On my drive over to Robinson Ranch, my car was literally being hit with a crazy downpour and I was freaking out. But, much to my surprise, when I arrived at the club the weather was beautiful and cloudy without any actual rain drops! We completely lucked out and the beautiful hills were just so lush and full of color! Their subtly beer themed wedding was such a fun, relaxed wedding and it was clear that these two had the time of their lives :)

Newhall Mansion Wedding: Mohsin & Chelsea

This beautiful multi-day affair was definitely the most colorful wedding I've ever been a part of! We started by photographing the party on Friday night where the guests got Henna and the couple was blessed and showered with gifts. Saturday was the more traditional ceremony where the bride wore not only one, but two stunning gowns! I'm just going to put it out there that these centerpieces might just be my favorite ever. Not a detail was overlooked!

Strathearn Historical Park Wedding: Josh & Nicole

Friend weddings are some of my favorite! Obviously. My husband's best friend since kindergarden got married over the weekend and we were both so honored to play a part in their special day. He was one of three Best Men, and I was the wedding photographer until the reception when my kickass team hopped in and I got to be a wedding guest for the first time in forever. Honestly, that's my happy place! I'm too much of a control freak to let someone else photograph my friend's weddings, but I also like to not work sometimes haha so this is where I'm the most comfortable. Josh and Nicole are a match made in heaven. Their wedding was rustic, romantic, and all things beautiful! From the handmade signs all the way down to the custom ribbon on the farewell streamers - not a detail was overlooked and it was just perfection. Guests were greeted with a custom bar to sign in lieu of a traditional guestbook and a Happily Ever Aston sign was placed over the gazebo to really personalize the ceremony! Really, you couldn't turn your head without seeing a custom detail somewhere at their wedding so you'll just have to see for yourself!

Hi there! If you're here, chances are you ran into me or one of my friends wearing the most amazing lipstick on the planet and you're dying to know more. Well, luckily for you - I'm about to lay it on you! Let me give you a little back story here and then we'll dive into the good stuff. As you can see, I'm a wedding photographer, not a makeup artist. In 2016 I made a New Year's Resolution to wear lipstick every day because I had just had a baby the year before and was falling into a bit of a mommy-frump. Fast forward to September and my resolution was not going super well... I was constantly reapplying it throughout the day, my one year old was whacking my face by accident and smearing it across my face.. no good. So when my friend, Lauren, invited me to her house for a Lipsense party, I was intrigued and suuuuper skeptical. There's no way this lipstick could hold up to the bold claims she was making. 5 minutes into her presentation I was sold and signed up before I even bought the product! I knew I was going to want all of the colors so signing up as a distributor was the best way to get a discount without having to make any monthly minimum purchases or having to sell it. But, I have a bit of a big mouth, and once I started wearing it on a regular basis I couldn't stop telling my friends how truly amazing this stuff was so I started selling it (basically to fund my personal addiction). Haha

So with that being said: Welcome to the wonderful world of lipcolor that actually lasts!! Up to 18 hours of seriously gorgeous, kiss-proof, smudge-proof, lead-free, wax-free, GMO-free, cruelty-free, vegan, made in the USA color! (That's hard to top!) Crazy addicting and wonderful for women on the go who don't have time to mess around with touch ups, moms who like to shower their babies in kisses (while beating the dreaded mom-frump), and.. well, basically everyone!

Lipsense is a 3 part system which includes the color of your choice (colors, really - let's be honest, you can't stop at one), the hydrating gloss, and a remover to help you clean up any mistakes you might make when applying!

Grace Baptist Church Wedding | John & Jessica

I'm not sure why we've been blessed with such incredible weather this winter - but John & Jessica's beautiful wedding was all sunshine and beautiful clouds! Their sweet little daughter joined in the festivities with her rockin' converse and sparkly dress, and Jessica's lovely maids looked radiant in their assorted cold dresses! I'm all about the mismatched look and these girls just look amazing in gold! I'm such a sucker for beautiful light and sequins so these portraits are totally my fave. Plus, I love these girls! I was able to be a part of Molly's wedding (Jessica's sister) quite a few years ago and so it was really special to come back for another Rand sis!

Smog Shoppe Wedding | Madison & Stacey

Is it 2016? Really? Oh my word. I can't believe how fast this year rolled in! January 2nd officially kicked off our 2016 wedding season here at BRP and I couldn't be more thrilled that we got to be a part of Madison & Stacey's gorgeous wedding at Smog Shoppe in Culver City. I became part of their wedding team just a week before their big day due to a medical emergency with their original photographer. Under the circumstances it would be understandable if they didn't completely trust me or if they were a little nervous about the big switch - but it was an amazing day! It's not very often (if ever) that I walk into bridal prep not knowing what my bride looks like and it's definitely a little weird to ask, "Sooo who's getting married today?!" haha but Stacey and I instantly clicked and I loved her friends! It was truly meant to be :)

What a stunning wedding to end our season on! Kat & Paul's seriously perfect wedding at Carondelet House was warm, intimate, and so so personal. Kat had a blue ribbon and 100 year old handkerchief pinned under the dress - the same old and blue items that had been with her mother and grandmother on their wedding days. With 45 of their closest friends and beloved family members, they shared their love story and personal vows surrounded by candlelight. Perfection. I'm so glad that they asked me to share this day with them - congrats you two! I'm sure you're loving eating your way through Italy.. I'm super jealous over here!

Issac's Birth Story | Los Angeles Birth Photographer Becca Rillo

Issac's birth was one of such peace and calmness that you would have almost never known it had happened if you weren't paying attention. Allie birthed him with such grace (can you say that about a birth?) and she made it look effortless - even though we all know that couldn't be farther from the truth. This particular birth was so special to me because it's the kind of birth that I had planned for, although mine completely took a swerve off course. She chose to deliver her son at the SCV Birth Center - unmedicated, in the water, and without the presence of a doctor. Statistically, that's actually the safest environment for a low-risk pregnancy! The things you learn when you become a parent.. Anyway, Allie is a rockstar and I was honored to bear witness to her incredible display of strength and courage in the face of immeasurable pain.

My favorites included the wedding rings that the groom MADE out of quarters, the bride's dress that was made from both her grandmother's dress AND her mother's dress, and the stunning tribute to Levi's dad who passed away a couple of years ago. Brookside Golf Club Wedding | Chadd & Nicole

I met Nicole while I was photographing her brother's wedding just last year. Little did I know that I would get the chance to see her sweet family again in the near future! I'm so honored that she chose me to shoot her wedding and I loved every minute of it.. well.. maybe not the heat (yikes! Isn't it fall?!) But Nicole rocked fall in an amazing color palette of wine and ivory! All of the details pulled everything together in such a fun way and I think it was the day that she envisioned. At Scott & Joni's wedding, their DJ played the *wrong song* (no, seriously) for their first dance. So Chadd & Nicole dedicated a special dance for them with the correct song this time. I was so happy that I was there to capture the original dance as well as this one! All the feels, you guys. I love Scott & Joni SO much!

Liz & David's day started off with a lovely traditional Korean ceremony and ended with a beautiful ceremony at the Muckenthaler Mansion! I'm such a fan of mis-matched bridesmaid's dresses and Liz totally nailed it. I mean, just take a look for yourself! Their wedding day was full of love, laughter, Patron shots, and all of their family and friends. I couldn't have been more honored to photograph this incredibly special day for them :)
