Ben's Barnyard Bash

Well this definitely isn't the kind of thing you usually see on my blog.. there's no lace, no blushing bride, no champagne toasts - and to be honest, I didn't even take these photos! My sweet, sweet friend, Mieke Snepvangers, came and photographed my little baby's first birthday party. Benjamin recently turned one and, of course, we had to throw him a crazy party that he wouldn't remember and go insanely overboard. Isn't that what everyone does? Thank goodness I have some amazingly talented friends that blessed me with their wonderful talents and didn't bat an eye when I told them I wanted to do! They actually threw crazy parties for their babies, too - so at least I'm good company. Back when I was pregnant, super pregnant in fact.. I got bored. So bored that I planned a first birthday party for a kid I hadn't met yet. He had a name and I needed a distraction - so Ben's Barnyard Bash was created. Thank you Pinterest! My friends, Eric & Shauna, own a super cool, red barn just down the street from me so it seemed like the perfect place to host a party. And what barnyard party would be complete without farm animals?? Yeah, that's right. Farm animals. (Like I said earlier, I went insanely overboard) Just scroll through the photos and see for yourself!

Lipsense

Hi there! If you're here, chances are you ran into me or one of my friends wearing the most amazing lipstick on the planet and you're dying to know more. Well, luckily for you - I'm about to lay it on you! Let me give you a little back story here and then we'll dive into the good stuff. As you can see, I'm a wedding photographer, not a makeup artist. In 2016 I made a New Year's Resolution to wear lipstick every day because I had just had a baby the year before and was falling into a bit of a mommy-frump. Fast forward to September and my resolution was not going super well... I was constantly reapplying it throughout the day, my one year old was whacking my face by accident and smearing it across my face.. no good. So when my friend, Lauren, invited me to her house for a Lipsense party, I was intrigued and suuuuper skeptical. There's no way this lipstick could hold up to the bold claims she was making. 5 minutes into her presentation I was sold and signed up before I even bought the product! I knew I was going to want all of the colors so signing up as a distributor was the best way to get a discount without having to make any monthly minimum purchases or having to sell it. But, I have a bit of a big mouth, and once I started wearing it on a regular basis I couldn't stop telling my friends how truly amazing this stuff was so I started selling it (basically to fund my personal addiction). Haha

So with that being said: Welcome to the wonderful world of lipcolor that actually lasts!! Up to 18 hours of seriously gorgeous, kiss-proof, smudge-proof, lead-free, wax-free, GMO-free, cruelty-free, vegan, made in the USA color! (That's hard to top!) Crazy addicting and wonderful for women on the go who don't have time to mess around with touch ups, moms who like to shower their babies in kisses (while beating the dreaded mom-frump), and.. well, basically everyone!

Lipsense is a 3 part system which includes the color of your choice (colors, really - let's be honest, you can't stop at one), the hydrating gloss, and a remover to help you clean up any mistakes you might make when applying!

How's that for overload?? Lipsense comes in so many colors! Once you apply your color, you need to seal it with the hydrating Glossy Gloss.  After a few weeks of wearing the Glossy Gloss, you can top it with any of the other gorgeous glosses we offer. You can also wear the gloss alone for hydration if you're not feeling like wearing lipstick that day!

My Baby Shower! | by Mieke Photography

It's so rare that I'm on the other side of the camera! ..but for a party like this, I don't mind one bit! My husband and I are expecting our first baby sometime in March and we wanted our baby shower to be something extra special. You only have your first kid once, so we figured we'd go all out! The gender was still under wraps at this point so our master plan was to have our guests walk into either an overly blue party or a perfectly pink party. As you can see from the photos, we're going to have a baby BOY joining our little family!! Our puppy, Max, can't wait to be a big brother and I'm fairly certain my cats could care less.. We worked with my favorite vendors to make this event a one-of-a-kind soiree that we hope our friends and family remember for years to come! I seriously can't thank each of these people enough. They all worked so hard to make my party so special and I'm forever grateful!

My amazing friend (and talented photographer) Mieke of Mieke Photography came early to photograph all of the STUNNING details by the vendors below! I've said it before, but if you're part of the BRP Family then there's a good chance Mieke was at your wedding shooting right along side of me! I'm super lucky to have her in my life to capture my special moments!

Myra of Celebrate Flowers & Invitations did my invites and all of the gorgeous florals that not only smelled heavenly, but dazzled guests! I loved her idea to use the mercury glass throughout the space and the beautiful blue hydrangeas she found to announce my little man were simply perfection.

Billy of Oh Watta Night Entertainment kept the party going and let me add in as much Maroon 5 into the mix as I wanted! Haha I know I'm crazy, but they've been my favorite band since I was 13. Billy is a true professional and I'm so glad he was there to entertain my guests!

Can we talk about the AMAZING dessert bar?? My girl, Melinda, of CAKEgoodness knocked it out of the park for my amazing gender revealing dessert bar! She made me the perfect sign to clearly announce our little bundle and the cakes.. I mean, the photos will blow you away. I may or may not have eaten cake pops for breakfast these last couple of days.. Don't judge me: I'm pregnant.

Peter of PhotoTouchBooth was the highlight of the evening with his super fun Photo Booth! Not only did my guests have a total blast in the booth during the evening, but I have blackmail photos for years to come on everyone. Amazing! Photo booths are always good idea and you can see proof of that at the bottom of this post!

DoubleTake Makeup Artistry gave me the "glow" that everyone kept complementing me on all night! Haha I haven't gotten that glow on my own so I enlisted the help of my faves to glam me up and they didn't disappoint! I definitely rocked it out the next day as well (yeah, I'm a dirt ball) but it lasted through the night and I looked fabulous all weekend! These girls are SO talented and you all need to hire them for your next event. No joke.

A1 Event Rentals provided all of the rentals (check out the adorable hot cocoa bar glasses!) and their uplighting was my favorite. It's crazy how just a few little lights shining on the walls completely transform a space! These guys are all amazing to work with and are super professional!

I don't think I'll have to buy diapers for 6 months thanks for my awesome friends! We decided to ask everyone to bring a pack of diapers and then did a really fun raffle. Everyone got to pick which prize they wanted to win and there were 5 different themed baskets to put your name into!

Mieke also took some amazing photos of me and my husband, Kyle! I've generally felt pretty round and just like a human incubator throughout my pregnancy but she captured a really pretty side of me that made me so happy! Now I see the glow! Kyle is going to be such a great dad and I'm so excited to watch him with our son. He's already talking about playing old school Zelda with him and taking him on nature walks. I just want to make sure he has nice table manners and holds the door open for women! He'll be a pretty cool little dude haha
